Warwick Uni 4ths vs Rugby 1sts This week the 4th team faced a strong Rugby 1st team and again suffered a narrow defeat, this time losing 3-2. Luke Underwood got us off to a promising start with a rapid 3-0 win. He consistently outwitted his more experienced opponent to come away with an impressive result. Meanwhile Will Pearce fought well on the next court taking the first game before falling to a 3-1 defeat. Honours even after 2 matches. Next up Ryan Wright took to the court in a scrappy affair that went all the way to the 5th game. At 14-12 down and facing two match points Ryan finally decided to play properly and duly won that final game 16-14. Rupert Larkin was involved in another tight match and eventually lost 3-2 in a gruelling encounter. So the tie was poised at 2-2 with only Mason Phillpott left to play. He faced a quality opponent in Rugbys best player. Three tight games later and Mason was unlucky to be on the end of a 3-0 loss. So a 3-2 loss but thats an improvement on last week. That first win of the season is just around the corner!
