Was in Guerneville a few weeks ago and stopped at Safeway, and - TopicsExpress

Was in Guerneville a few weeks ago and stopped at Safeway, and then at the ubiquitous Taco Truck in the parking lot there next to the artisan folks selling jewelry and tie-dyed memories, and it struck that there used to be a small drive-in on the corner. I recall us (meaning all those of a certain age who lived in Sonoma Co. in the 50s 60 70s) stopping at this drive in on the way to the river or coast to get burgers hot dogs fries. Wasnt it a Jolly Cone? The picture here is not the one that was in Guerneville, but the fundamental recall is the same. Also, a great Jolly Cone was in Middletown just past downtown on the way to Clearlake. A classic burger drive in like Artic Circle. The Middletown Jolly Cone closed in the mid nineties, but has reinvented itself as Jolly Kone and is a hot spot for revisionist foodies!
