Watch this and wonder What can I do?.. just tell me what I can do. I was chatting with a shop assistant on Sunday, who was bemoaning the fact that she and her mum were stuck in their shiny new Edinburgh tram which was delayed by an hour by the Gaza protest. Her Mum had told her they should ban protests, especially around the festival time in Edinburgh I was a bit gobsmacked, that this woman didnt see the irony of what she was saying. God forbid that anything get in the way of us having a good time. There was someone behind me, waiting to be served, so I paid and left, but as we all do, I am left contemplating what I SHOULD have said. Are we so cossetted in our comfortable lives, and kept ignorant by a media diet of mindless celebrity pap, that we cant empathise with a situation where children are being killed and mutilated daily? Why are we not being enraged to the point where we demand that our government does everything it possibly can to halt this? Claiming the situation is complicated doesnt cut it any more. Someone tell me what I can do.
