Watched Frozen last night, you can definitely see a culture shift - TopicsExpress

Watched Frozen last night, you can definitely see a culture shift at Disney even since just a few movies ago. Here are my observations. 1. The female character showed the most bravery, independence and fortitude this is a recent change 2. Falling in love with the handsome prince was not the focal point, goal or main focus of the movie, I believe this is either a first, or one of the first, for Disney 3. Her physical appearance as a drawing card for male attention was not even discussed or even made a part of the movie at all. 3. The handsome prince was actually the villain I know this is new. (I noticed as soon as he showed up he was not drawn quite as attractively as past princes have been) 4. Never before have we been made to sympathize with the sorcerer / person with magical powers that caused destruction. 4. The power & importance of the love of family and that viewed as True love verses characters being nearly completely disconnected from their family in favor of solely romantic relationships. This IS new and I think very healthy. 5.The music is far more mature, less whimsical and definitely a departure from the traditional Disney sound. Overall I really liked this movie a lot although it wasnt quite as moving to me as some Disney has made in the past. Let it go, by the way, is my new lifes motto. :)
