Watching the situation unfolding in Ukraine I find myself for the - TopicsExpress

Watching the situation unfolding in Ukraine I find myself for the first time in my life taking a hawkish stance. Putin is ambitious. He has a plan. He will take Ukraine. Then he will take Trans-Dneister and right on into Moldova. He wil absorb Belarus without a shot fired. Then? We cant predict. The Baltics? Romania? Further incursions into the Caucuses? Would he be so bold as to set sights on Finland or Poland? We dont need to go screaming right into war, but we do need to recognize an imminent threat when it appears. There should already be significant NATO build up in Eastern Europe. We could stop him. We could stop playing the Neville Chamberlain appeasement card and put our foot down. We could send the message that it will not be tolerated. Unfortunately I feel that we wont. I feel we will stall until it is too late and war becomes inevitable. This is serious and I dont think most Americans appreciate just how serious it is.
