We are a generation that worships celebrities without senses and superstars without substance. We have celebrity Pastors and superstar preachers who live in million dollar mansions and drive million dollar cars while their parishioners are perishing in poverty. Jesus said, The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. (Matthew 8:20) Where is the humility of Christ? Where is the meek and lowly mind of our humble and gentle savior? Has Christ changed? God wants us to be imitators of Christ. Paul says Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10. On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4. Not Hollywood but the Holy Word should be our standard. Not men but Christ should be our example and having the meek and lowly mind of Christ should be our goal. Not fame but faithfulness is what should drive us. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.
