We are again the oldest folks in a large room at a rock show. But the coolest thing happened this time around! Vic & I attended the Gaslight Anthem show at Marathon Music Works tonite in Nashville. But unlike the masses of hipsters and children here, we are here for the opener for the opener...a GREAT rock n roll band from Stockholm Sweden called twopointeight (like 2.8). I got turned on to them on their first album probably a decade ago & weve never had an opportunity to see them except for this 30 minute set today! Ive been excited about it for awhile. So we enter the room early with the stage rushers only so that we dont miss the opener if they go on extra early (and they did, at 7:45). We hit the Merch table cuz all I have is this old school t-shirt & looking for some new school threads on the band. We get to talking to the Merch/Tour Mgr and I tell him my dream is to vacation in Sweden and see The Hives & twopointeight ilive in their hometown. Show starts and 25 mins in, for the next to last song...twopointeight lead singer says our tour mgr tells us theres a long time fan of ours in the audience wearing an old school twopointeight t-shirt and we wanted to send this one out to him! & they proceed to play Red Eye...the first song I ever heard by them on Rancid Radio on the old Fungus channel on XM!!! How bout that shit?? The oldest dude at the show gets called out by the first band!!! Made my week!!! For real!
