We are appealing for help to trace the owner of a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog involved in a biting incident in York. The incident happened just off Byland Avenue towards Monkton Road on Friday 22 August 2014 at around 4pm. The victims, a 44-year-old local woman and a her four-and-a-half year old Lhasa Apso dog, were on the grassed area opposite the adventure play ground when a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog attacked her dog twice causing serious injuries. As the woman was picking her dog up in fear of a further attack from the Staffordshire bull terrier, it then bit her left wrist causing three puncture wounds. The description of the dog responsible for the attack is a large black Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog with brown speckles in its coat. She is described as white, medium build, aged mid 40s, around 5ft 5in tall with short dark hair which is slightly longer on one side. She was wearing a turquoise care workers-type uniform, black trousers and a pink waterproof jacket. If you are the owner of the dog in question or have witnessed the incident, please call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Louise Harness.
