We are at a critical point. For the last four decades CAT has talked consistently about the solutions which can be used to avoid climate change. Weve helped to push it from being a fringe issue to part of the mainstream debate. But we need to acknowledge a failure too - we havent been able to avoid climate change. The impacts are now visible in many parts of the world and 2 degrees temperature rise - possibly more - seems unavoidable. We need to urgently redouble our efforts to quit fossil fuels and emissions, but we also need to learn how to adapt to that unavoidable change. Adapting to climate change is not just about building bigger sea defences. It is about working out how to organise society so that the most vulnerable are protected, it is about confronting inequality, building resilience in communities, changing the way buildings work and it is about having a different kind of relationship with nature. This is the aim of our new MSc courses - to develop a community of people who can think about all these things. We also have a weekend course looking at adaptation at the end of next month, which you could join us for
