Mr. President, you promised the American people that the U.S. would cease military operations in Afghanistan by 2014. But now there’s a likely possibility that we might be stationing 15,000 troops there until at least 2024, if not longer, as there is no “official” timetable in place in the new agreement with Kabul...so really, there may not ever be a complete troop withdrawal at all?! If this is the case, I am extremely disappointed with your administration. And by the way, if you’re citing the continued rise of al-Qaeda in the region as the the reason why we’re staying, keep in mind that it’s at least partly our fault - with our drone usage and whatnot, are you really surprised that anti-Americanism has grown? No amount of troops and weaponry can defeat hard-lined, religiously-charged ideology, and attempting to mitigate this aspect using counter-violence only stokes the fire.
