We are happy to announce a new Dharma class for teens. Vision: Our head Lama, His Holiness Jigdal Dagchen Sakya Rinpoche, has said on many occasions, Be happy...make happy. And really, what could be more important than that? By studying the teachings of the Buddha, and weaving them together with curriculum from the Project Happiness Foundation, teens will learn how to incorporate the principles of the Buddhas teachings into their daily lives. They will also learn to build their own toolbox to help them become resilient, empowered, compassionate individuals and to make happy in todays challenging world. We encourage families to please register your tweens/teens by March 23rd (Teen Pizza Party). Registration helps us to organize the classes and materials. Please note that drop-in teens are always welcome. Teen Dharma classes will be facilitated by Teresa Lamb and Moses Tovar. Virginia Hassinger will be joining them later in Spring. Class meets regularly every Sunday. Time: sign in at 9:50 am Location: Library Class: ages 10 thru 16 Class size: 10-12, more students if space is available To register, please contact the Monastery office at [email protected] Class Materials: The primary book we will be using is the Project Happiness Handbook, which will provide the class framework. Additional materials will be drawn from other sources to build a flexible, well rounded, engaging, and fun curriculum for the teens. Books will be furnished by Sakya Monastery to registered students. Drop in tweens/teens will be provided with a loaner book to use during class. Any parents who have registered their child is welcome to come to the first class on April 6. The instructors will explain what the children will be doing during classes and can answer any questions the parents may have.
