We are please to announce our second opera selection for the New in November festival is Lucy, by composer Tom Cipullo. The story begins with Lucy (an elderly woman) talking on the telephone with her nephew. After the call ends, she receives an unusual visitor – a strange young man sitting on top of her television. Lucy was premiered by the Remarkable Theater Brigade at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall on October 1, 2009. The cast included soprano Elizabeth Bell and baritone Michael Anthony McGee, and the music director was Noby Ishida. The following year, the work received its Washington premiere at the Kennedy Center, presented by the enterprising UrbanArias company. Lucy is dedicated to Florence Perrucci. You will have the opportunity to hear Lucy, and five other short operas on November 17th at 7:00pm at the Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford. We hope to see you at the performance.
