We are receiving a lot of messages about suspected neglect or concern for neighboring pets, especially now that the temperatures have plummeted. We have no legal rights to remove an animal or to trespass on to anyones property. Sometimes offering your neighbor an indoor kennel and suggesting they bring in their pet at night or leaving a bale of straw on their porch can make a huge difference in the comfort of the animal. If you live in Springfield city limits, you can report any concerns of neglect to Animal control. Their number is 417-833-3592. If you live in Greene county, you can call HSMO at (314) 647-4400 or the Greene County Sheriffs office at (417) 868-4040. For other areas we would be happy to help you locate the number to contact. If the animal is in immediate danger, please call 911. We all have to be proactive. Thank you to everyone for keeping your eyes open and and trying to help the animals in need.
