We are starting an exciting new program with Music & Memory, a non-profit organization that helps bring personalized music to nursing home residents with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. The program has shown consistent results: • Residents are happier and more social • Relationships among staff, residents and family deepen • Everyone benefits from a calmer, more supportive social environment • Staff regain valuable time previously lost to behavior management issues • There is growing evidence that a personalized music program gives professionals one more tool in their effort to reduce reliance on anti-psychotic medications We have received iPods and head phones and high school students have volunteered to download personal playlists from iTunes. These lists have been put together with the help of family members. As part of this project, we will need to build a library of our resident’s favorite music. Much of this music will need to be purchase on-line from iTunes. We are hoping to fund this project through donations if iTunes gift cards. Your support of this project would be appreciated.
