We do not need a military big enough to beat the whole world. We spend more money on Defense than the next 25 countries combined. The whole world being against us, would be a pretty good indicator that we were wrong, and needed to lose. We won WWII by outproducing everyone else. We won the cold war by outspending the USSR until they were broke. Todays warfare is one of intelligence and surgical covert operations with limited collateral damage. Our conventional military is much larger than we need, and encourages Chicken Hawks like George W Bush and Dick Cheney, as well as Donald Rumsfeld and John McCain to be adventurous with our children, whom they consider to be a resource to be exploited, like all other resources. America has other pressing needs, such as Education. Infrastructure, Scientific Research, Hunger, Poverty, Unemployment, etc., all of which have been neglected to give the ideologues the ability to interfere with the politics and policies of other sovereign nations, the generals more toys, and the war profiteers more money. In short we need to concentrate our efforts and money with our own backyard, and our own very pressing needs as a Nation.
