We had a wonderful evening last night and a great turnout for our Monroe County ICPE fundraiser and reception! Over 50 people were in attendance in Bloomington on Thursday evening. Those in attendance honored Indiana Senators Vaneta Becker, (R) Evansville, and Tim Skinner, (D) Terre Haute, for their advocacy public education. Superintendent of Vigo County Schools, Danny Tanoos, made remarks commending Senator Skinner and Nancy Papas, retired ISTA lobbyist, made remarks commending Senator Becker for their efforts on behalf of the one million plus students in Indiana public schools. Vic Smith, ICPE chair, Marilyn Shank of Indianapolis, Bob Dalton, former Kokomo superintendent, of Mooresville, Mary Rose of Bloomington and Roger Fierst of Bloomington are ICPE board members who were at the meeting. State Senator Mark Stoops, (D) of Bloomington and State Representative Matt Pierce, (D), Bloomington were also in attendance as were three MCCSC school board members, Sue Wanzer, Lois Sabo-Skelton and David Sabbagh. Great to see so many other advocates for public education come together. It was a very inspiring, successful evening for the ICPE!
