We have cancelled all our bin collections tomorrow. This is - TopicsExpress

We have cancelled all our bin collections tomorrow. This is because of the national strike called by public sector unions. If your bin is due to be collected tomorrow, please don’t put it out tonight. If your black bin is due to be collected, your next scheduled collection will be on July 24. We’d encourage everyone to use their recyclable waste bins as best they can. If you have excess waste, you can also take it to your nearest household waste recycling centre. There are three of these in the borough – in Leigh, Atherton and Ince. If that’s not an option for you, you can put out two bags of excess waste with your next black bin collection on July 24. However, we ask residents to work with us and only leave extra bags if absolutely necessary. We cannot accept excess waste with recycling bins. If your green bin is due to be collected tomorrow, you can put food waste into your black bin, which will be collected next week. If your brown bin is due to be collected tomorrow, your next collection will be on July 24. If your blue bin is due to be collected tomorrow, your next collection will be in a month. We want to apologise for the disruption to our services tomorrow. However, our staff have a right to take industrial action. We’re trying to manage the impact of that as best we can. Some of you have asked why we can’t collect the bins on Friday. Unfortunately, there are existing scheduled collections on Friday and we don’t have the resources to do two days’ work in one day. We cannot collect on Saturday, as some of you have suggested, because there would be a high cost in doing this and the council simply can’t afford it. Again, we’re sorry for the disruption and would ask for your help in limiting the impact.
