We have much that needs to be done in our country before we can truly say we have equality for all our citizens. But at least we have laws that try to protect each individuals right to be who he or she wishes to be even if theyre not uniformly enforced. And its true that the indigenous people that were here when Europeans first arrived saw their lands and ways of life stolen in many egregious ways. But I had no idea that Australias government, at the behest of big mining corporations, is still practicing basic thievery of lands from its native people and obviously trying to destroy their culture and way of life. The only fully industrialized country in the world without a human rights clause in its constitution and never to have worked out a treaty with its indigenous people. Shameful in todays world.
