We have to be a political power Aziz Burney It is the need of the hour that we should talk politics though the Parliamentary elections are far off now. But the Delhi elections are round the corner. Our ulema have not yet announced which party meets their political expectations as their view holds a lot of importance. It would have been great if all would think of being united and becoming a political power. I am not saying this from a communal point of view. Pundits, thakurs, Jats, Yadavs, Dalits are political powers and in a democratic country this does not seem strange. Obviously, Muslim vote is not a decisive factor in all the 70 constituencies of Delhi and even in the seats where Muslim vote is a decisive factor, it is not possible to make Muslim candidates victorious. So, there will be some seats where we will have to vote secular Hindu candidates and we will support them. We have to see that he meets our requirements and expectations and that he and his party has a secular mindset, far removed from the mentality that tries to divide the country on communal lines. His past should also not be one of not taking along all the sections of India. Azizul Hind intends to support all those candidates in the Delhi elections whom it expects to meet this requirement. They may belong to different parties but we will decide to vote in favour of a particular candidate in a particular seat and this decision will also be taken after consultations with like-minded people. At the moment, the list of all the candidates is not available with us but there are some faces before us whom we can expect to play a long inning in Indian politics. They are young faces. They have achieved considerable success at a very young age. They can prove to be leaders of the nation and the community if they get the support of the community. They might have some flaws along with some virtues and merits. It is difficult to look for angels on earth. Therefore, we have to see that they meet the expectations by virtue of their merits and abilities despite their flaws. If they do, why won’t we support them? Azizul Hind is also going to take another tough decision, tough in the sense that for the media, elections prove to be very beneficial in making the media financially strong. Therefore, it is necessary for the media to publish advertisements of candidates, no matter which party he belongs to, prominently and his programmes are given prominent space. We will not publish the advertisement of the candidate whose past has been detrimental to the national interests or if the candidate belongs to the party whose activities have not been sincere to the country especially to the Muslims. No advertisement bearing the photograph of Narendra Modi will be published at any cost, nor will be published his statement in favour of a candidate nor the statement of a candidate in his favour. However, if the view of the responsible persons is received in favour of some candidates who is expected to work for the solution of the problems in the constituency, this angle will be taken into consideration. But there is no scope of any change in the policy mentioned above. Indeed, we do not have any intentions of supporting or opposing any particular political party. We have to focus on the problems and issues of the people in respective constituencies. We would like to know their views about the candidates and what will be good for them. Our representatives will contact you. You can also give your views directly to us via e-mail or SMS. But none of our representatives or marketing executive will contact any candidate for advertisements or convey news in his favour or against him to the newspaper. Azizul Hind will stand in favour of the candidate whom it will announce as its favourite candidate in a particular constituency and will not ask for any favours from him. This point was made clear so that if someone approaches him for this purpose, they can out rightly reject his proposal. They can send all the news of their programmes directly to us via e-mail. We will publish them. Of course, in lieu of this favour, we will expect from them that after they win they will raise the issues of the Muslims his constituency. Our support to them would be like our debt to them and they can repay it by ensuring justice to their own voters who could be either Muslims or non-Muslims. But walking on the path of claiming justice does not go against any religion. We have the examples of Mahatma Gandhi to Shahid Hemant Karkare. We are announcing the names of four candidates in the first phase who are incidentally all Muslims. We would only hope that they will have a transparent and honest personality and believe in communal harmony and national unity, no matter which party they belong to. Nothing else.
