We must once again scramble to try to find alternative outdoor - TopicsExpress

We must once again scramble to try to find alternative outdoor homes for pairs of cats from a managed colony. This is virtually impossible during kitten season, but, if the cats are not relocated within days, they shall die in the pound. Please help get a reprieve: Maintenance of the long-standing feral colony which makes its home on the grounds of Hospice of Acadiana has been fraught with problems, but, thanks to a few tenacious caretakers, the cats have remained. Though Hospice itself initially solicited Wild Cat to spay/neuter the cats, its management have not consistently cooperated with the spirit of Trap-Neuter-Return and multiple staff members have lost or given up their positions while trying to care for the animals. Now, after the report of a single cat bite, the corporation plans to enlist Lafayette Animal Control to trap and kill all of the cats--at taxpayer expense. Understanding that this lethal approach is not only costly, but inhumane, and highly impractical, Animal Control offered to trap only the alleged biter (which is not a known member of the colony). However, the publicly supported, tax exempt entity which professes compassion is (sardonically) refusing sanctuary to a few cats. If the ferals are not allowed to stay, theyll be destroyed within days. Please ask Hospice of Acadiana to prevent this. Reach out to the decision-maker on this issue, CEO Louis Hebert, *politely* asking him to reconsider. The telephone number is (337) 232-1234 and email may be sent via the link below. Time is running out, so, please send a message right away. Thank you! Alley Cat Allies
