We recently received this exciting report: In December of 2011 Pastor Daniel Kumar and an associate attended the call2all Congress in LA. At that time they resolved to begin the Bible translation in his heart language, Sambalpuri, because there is no Bible in that language which is spoken by over 18 million in the state of Orissa, India. Pastor Daniel went home to India and began the work of translation. The Bible Society of India’s head of Translation Quality, whose heart language is also Sambalpuri, gave them the template for translation procedures. The Book of Matthew is finished! 25,000 copies of the Gospel of Matthew was printed so they could distribute them to the target area. The launch was scheduled for June 25th because a key leader and the grandson of the King asked to attend. Along with him were 20 other government officials as well as the District Superintendent of Police. This was amazing and proved the favor of God and an answer to their prayers in this area of severe persecution of Christians! They requested that a copy of the Gospel of Matthew be in every Sambalpuri-speaking home! This door has opened wide to get the Gospel into this very Gospel destitute people group of 18 million. They are working to finalize the 4 Gospels in the next 3 months. Work is now in progress on the JESUS Film in Sambalpuri. About 48% of the Sambalpuri speaking people are illiterate and need to hear the Gospel in this format. There are very few films in Sambalpuri so the Gospel in this form will be quite a draw! Transworld Radio has now offered to produce the audio version of the Sambalpuri Bible. A radio personality will help and SD cards will be made for distribution.
