We want to share with you our organization’s accomplishments in 2014. 100% of the donations we received went directly into helping others facing a serious illness or disability. Here are some highlights: 1. Publishing of our new Hope Through The Storm magazine • We distributed an estimated 1800+ issues in 2014. • Distribution included all of Cancer & Hematology Centers in West Michigan, including Lemmen-Holton and Lacks Cancer Centers. We were also able to establish contacts and distribution to Metro Health Cancer Center, St. Mary’s Hospital, Metro Hospital and Spectrum Hospital, and Christian Counseling Center. • We recently published another 2000 copies, including donation envelopes affixed inside. 2. Hope Bag Outreach Program • We distributed over 500 Hope Bags to Hope Conference attendees, Cook Center Alzheimer’s nursing floor, Servant Center in Grand Rapids for the homeless facing mental illness, and to a variety of individuals facing serious illness and disability as we learn of them. 3. Hope Through The Storm Website and Facebook site • We established a fully-functional ministry website, including access to our mission, vision, programs, online videos (Never Alone, Coping with Grief, Children & Cancer and Living Waters), and the ability to accept online donations (through JustGive.org), and posted the Hope Conference 2014 videos. • We established a Facebook site, offering communication of our activities throughout the year. We currently have 555 likes (potential is much greater). 4. 1st Annual Hope Conference • We were able to offer a 3-hour conference free to anyone facing a serious illness or disability in West Michigan. The conference was held at Frederik Meijer Gardens and it was well-attended (full-house). We were able to offer encouragement to people facing a wide variety of illnesses and disabilities. We were blessed to have Ed and Lorna Dobson, Joni Eareckson Tada (taped), Dr. Mark Campbell, along with Char and myself present, and an incredible group of volunteers who helped in every facet, especially with making our guests feel welcome. It was an amazing day. Looking ahead to this new year, our two big events both happen on May 16; the Hope Conference from 11am-3pm and then Laura Story in Concert at 7pm that evening. We are looking forward to an exciting and meaningful 2015 as we continue to reach out to those in need.
