We wanted to give you an update before the holidays kick off this week. This past month can only be described as one thing – a giant roller coaster. After 42 days at the hospital, my mom finally got to leave the day after Thanksgiving. The plan was to rest, relax, eat our favorite foods and get back to fighting shape for her cancer treatments ahead. Each day, she’s grown stronger and stronger - always positive and always smiling. On Monday, we got our first amazing news – the tumor is shrinking. Her cancer treatments are working and we have even more hope that she can beat this disease. On that same day though, as we were all sitting around the dinner table, Cathy had her first seizure. This is a common symptom of Glioblastoma and one that we prayed my mom wouldn’t experience. The doctors had to monitor her over the week to find the right combination of medicine to keep the seizures at bay. They sent her back home just today – tired but already recovering. We now know why they say this journey is a marathon with lots of ups and so many downs. The most amazing thing about Cathy though is her spirit. We’re just as positive and hopeful as we were when we started this and my mom is the one to thank for that.
