We were back in a kart today and for the first time in over a month we were racing at Goodwood. Todays race was a heat racing format instead of qualifying. This would mean the grid was set by drawing your starting position for the first race and the second race would have the same grid reversed. Austin started 3 for the first race and stayed there most of the race but on the last lap he caught the second place but in a place where he couldnt pass and that slowed him up just enough to get passed by the kart behind on the last turn dropping him to 4th. In the second race Austin would have to start 3rd last and had a great start. He was up to 6th just after turn 1. He was making a pass for 5th when the driver he was passing turned into him and pushed him off the track onto the grass at the fastest part of the track. I dont know how Austin saved it but he did and only lost one spot in the process. When he got back on the track he showed great pace and in the end had made it back to 4th. In the final Austin would start 4th and was up to 3rd by turn one. He lost a spot in the hair pin and was forced wide. He stayed 4th until he was able to catch 3rd going up the hill and was able to take the spot back he had lost earlier in the race. For the rest of the race he was really fast and consistent and on the last lap had caught 2nd but ran out of time and finished 3rd. Great Job today Weeman!
