Weather Forecast for KENT – WEDNESDAY 21st January 15. SYNOPSIS: An occluded front will decay while over us as our airflow takes on a slight continental feed. TODAY . . . Any patchy light rain or snow still hanging about over our county (especially to the west) this morning are expected to fizzle out by noon time. It will be generally cloudy for most of the time, but hopefully a lucky select few of us may get to see the odd chinks of brightness as we wear onto the afternoon. A brisk south east breeze will make todays maximums of 3 C to 4 C (37 F to 39 F) feel a lot colder than it needs to be – but the continental nature of this wind should hopefully go some way to shift some of this dampness. Certainly a chilly ol day so wrap up warm when going out – unless youre a Glaswegian. TONIGHT . . . Rather cloudy with some clear breaks and itll be mostly dry, save for perhaps an odd light wintry shower somewhere over West Kent in the small hours. A gentle easterly breeze will keep it feeling chilly and fresh at 1 C to 3 C (34 F to 37 F). Any clear breaks that does occur may just about allow a frost to take a hold, along with some icy patches if you are unlucky enough – but you should know the drill by now anyway. TOMORROW (Thursday) . . . Hopefully well do better in terms of bright spells, especially over Southern and Western parts of Kent, and itll be staying dry. It may tend to be more cloudier towards the North Eastern part of our region (Thanet) as our wind becomes a moderate north east. Still on the chilly side. OUTLOOK . . . Generally dry and bright on Friday as well as being a little less cold than of late. However, a weather front will move in from the Atlantic to bring us a spell of general cloud cover and some rain on Friday night before clearing off eastwards on Saturday morning. It may give off some snow for a time over high ground in passing but has been said in low confidence (not sure if the air aloft is cold enough for it). Then the weekend itself should go along on a decent note by being bright with temperatures recovering to average values, but there may be some frost by night. But then, cloud may tend to thicken up again later on Sunday as a warm front move in from the Atlantic. That may lead to a rather mild, wet n mild Monday with the rest of next week likely to go along on a typically changeable note with temperatures sticking close to average values, thus making for a mediocre end to January – but I am getting ahead of myself at this point.
