Weekend update- Sergeants Sears and Linder advise they had a busy weekend. There were a total of 19 persons who got to check into the Bulldog B&B over the weekend. They were arrested for various violations that included the following: Outstanding city/county warrants, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Invalid (Suspended drivers license), DWIs, Public Intoxications, shoplifting, Possession of Prohibited Weapon (brass knuckles), Possession of Marihuana, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Officers answered 222 calls for service throughout the weekend. The type of calls answered include: Hit and Run, shoplifting, Animal Control, Assist agency (KCPD & Gregg County), Several trips to the ER to assist with combative patients, Child custody, Family Violence, Noise disturbances, 911 Investigations, Residential Alarms, Business Alarms, Shots fired, and Suspicious person/vehicle. On Saturday, Officers answered a call from numerous callers in reference to gun shots being fired at MLK park. Arriving Officers found most persons uncooperative, but one citizens did provide information to Officers. Officers located at least 10 spent 9mm shell casings at the scene. We were told someone was shot in the foot, but as of this post a victim has not been located. Officers continue to hand out crime prevention cards on vehicles throughout the city in which they find valuables in plain view. With your assistance we have greatly reduced the number of vehicle burglaries in the city. We are close to reducing the amount of burglaries by 30% during a twelve month period! We received compliments on several Officers, but they have not yet been identified. Officer(s) changed the tire of an elderly person on I-20. In another show of service an Officer notified an elderly citizen of her broken brake lamp, but the Officer went even further and followed her home and changed it out.
