Weighted Jumps can be performed several different ways. One way - TopicsExpress

Weighted Jumps can be performed several different ways. One way that we use them at Performance One Advanced Sports Training is by placing a barbell on the Athletes back. Here High School Wrestler Jack Darveaux is her performing Box Jumps with a 35 lb. barbell on his back. When we place the barbell on the back of the athlete, the athlete is not able to use his/her hands to generate momentum during the jump. The athlete is forced to keep his torso upright during the dip and drive phase of the movement. The additional weight provided by the barbell gives the athlete extra motivation to stay with the extension phase of the jump longer. We perform weighted jumping drills after our Weightlifting Exercises but before our smaller Accessory Movements during our training program. Speed, Power, and Reaction Time are key to athletic dominance and this movement is one that helps develop these key traits. Train Smart, Train Hard, and Train Consistent! Coach Joe
