Welcome to the largest forest in Sumatra The Gunung Leuser National Park was created to protect over 1 million hectares of tropical rai forest. The forests of GLNP are home of tiger,elephant,orangutan and rhino,and all together there are 129 mammal species and at least 380 species of birds. the forest is worth much more standing than if it eas cutting down for timber. Some of the most important values are water supplies,protection against floods and landslides,tourism and medicinal plants. Local people,the park authority,local government,national and international agencies are working together to ensure that this unique place survives!
