Well, I got to have a peek at the new math theyre pushing. It is total BS. Kiddo went from honor roll to struggling with it. Between that and spending lord knows how much time teaching kids to take standardized tests, how much real teaching is allowed in schools? (no, Im not blaming the teachers at all, they have to do what theyre told). And teachers no longer get to be creative, it seems like. Kids learn with creativity. I know the math (I cant even remember what its called Im so upset about it) helps some kids, but when it takes kids that were learning and puts them in a position of doubt about their own abilities, what is the plus? Teach the kids that learn that method that way, and the other, leave them alone and teach them the regular way. After looking at the methodology of it, I can only come to the conclusion that the creator of it had a few bad acid trips and didnt make it back.
