Well, I survived the freeway he-l of Lost Wages, with the help of my iPad Mini and Google Maps that led me right to the Nevada Dept of Wildlife office. Jennifer, the wildlife education coordinator for NDoW, set me up for contributing volunteer hours at the Overton WMA -- and once I take the class for certification for Interpretive Guide, it will be so much easier to work for wildlife refuges, WMAs and other federal lands around the country. Once completing the class, Ill have my own brown shirt with name tag -- and hopefully another baseball cap with the NDofW logo, too! :) We have tentatively planned for a beginning bird walk and perhaps an intermediate one, and a slideshow presentation for the town of Overton and the Moapa Valley, bird focus to be announced. So with the weather clearing up (glad I got all this stuff done on a rainy day), its heading out to the Valley of Fire tomorrow to check out possible water pockets and birds, then on Friday its another bird count at the WMA. Fun stuff! (y)
