Well, THIS happened. My dad, Herb Damrau, has taken a couple of spills over the last few months, the last one resulting in a gashed head and ten staples and a fractured vertebrae. The doctors have now declared him to be non-mobile. He is not even allowed to use his walker anymore. My parents living room has been transformed into a hospital room/bedroom for Dad. Since he cant get up anymore, I guess that means that once he gets into that hospital bed later today, he will pretty much spend the rest of his life in it. Im left with an odd assortment of feelings. The man is 91 years old, and, given our mortal condition, it is pointless to hope he gets better. Im not in favor of prolonging the inevitable. At the same time I recoil from the thought of hoping for a quick resolution. I guess I just hope for ... whatever is easiest on my mom.
