Well, as many of you know, Jeff and I made it back to U.S. soil - TopicsExpress

Well, as many of you know, Jeff and I made it back to U.S. soil safe and sound. It’s been a week since we returned and I think we have just about recuperated! I wanted to thank each one of you for your prayer on our behalf, for reading our posts, checking out our pictures, watching our videos, blessing us materially, and for generally showing that you care. One of the things that was so striking to me is how many of the people we met spoke more than one language…Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, English…even French! This stands in stark contrast to me (I can barely speak English). As a result, we didn’t get to share about Jesus with too many people who didn’t already believe. Of the three people I got to speak to, one was a religious Jewish man who said he had been studying for 33 years (only 2 years longer than I have been alive). I spoke to him on the plane over to Israel. His name was Chaim. He denied that Jesus was the Jewish Messiah on the basis that Jesus did not keep the Sabbath day. He believes that the Messiah will come when the Gentile nations start living by the 7 rules God outlined in Genesis and when the Jewish people start living according to the Law of Moses. His goal seemed to be to convince people to live by these things with the hope that if enough people in the world lived according to God’s rules, he would be obligated to send the Messiah. I asked if he believed that when the Messiah comes if he has to suffer and die like the Prophets Isaiah, Zechariah, and others talk about or if he will only come as a King. He said he would come as a king. I told him that I believed Jesus was the Jewish Messiah that was promised. We did exchange emails, so perhaps God will cause some fruit to be borne there. The other two people I talked to were not interested in Jesus at all. One was on the Petra tour with us, and the other was on the plane ride home. We are very excited to be able to partner with Bet Yeshua Bat Yam (The house of Jesus in Bat Yam), and learn about their congregation, their plans for the future, and their needs. I am hoping to continue to build that partnership with Neriyah, his family, and the congregation, both through internet interactions and through future visits. I am praying for the Lord’s direction concerning all of this, and I welcome your prayers to that end as well. There are several future possibilities we are exploring. Again, thank you for lending your support in every way! Our family is now plunging in to September! We made the decision to send the kids to the Clearfield Christian Missionary Alliance School this year instead of doing the online cyber school/home school. So Kaija went into 2nd grade, Liam went into 1st grade, and Aeowyn went into Kindergarten! They are 2 weeks in now, and they all love school! We are hoping that this frees Tamsen up some more over the next several months. Myra has been a little lonesome, but is adjusting well. I have begun a teaching series on the 8 Covenants in the Bible on Tuesday nights and that series will continue through October. As I mentioned in my previous post, several members of Narrow Road Ministries will be leaving for India next week, and I will be preaching on Sundays for several weeks while they are away. With it being September, and the end of the year approaching quickly, our family is praying for God’s provision for us in the coming year. At this point, we are fully supported until January, but that’s it. We have some plans, and we would like to ask you to partner with us in prayer over how God will provide and that he would make our plans prosper in our hands. That of course means us doing all we can to put those plans into action combined with faith that God will meet us. Soli Deo Gloria!
