Well everyone, twenty days after the last surgery, there are complications. Tuesday afternoon, my left breast turned very red, like it was infected. I didnt have a fever though. So I took an antibiotic that I had from the surgery and went to bed. I knew I had an appointment with Dr. Vashi the next day so I wasnt worried. When I woke up the situation was worse and the breast was even redder. No pain really except for a tightness and no fever. So I went to my appointment expecting him to give me bad news. Well its not as bad as I thought. Not yet. Dr. Vashi does not think its an infection. He thinks its lymphedema. Those pesky little lymph nodes that were removed are being missed by my body. He thinks fluid has built up because there are no nodes to drain into, so were playing lets see what it does for now. I am on antibiotics and I have an appointment tomorrow to see what he thinks. No I know some of you are going to be upset for me, but dont be. It is what it is and this is just part of the journey laid out for me. Im not upset so dont be for me. The way Im looking at it is that if it were an infection, I know I would have to have surgery. Lymphedema may not take me to the operating room and thats a good thing. If, and when, this darned expander ever gets going, I have to believe that Dr. Vashi is going to give me the best looking boobs a mere mortal man can create because hes starting to feel sorry for this 53 year old broad. So see, theres a silver lining in everything.
