Well some more developments with the 3D Spiv. Sometimes delayed development helps because weve moved forward in other things in the meantime. Some of you may have seen me working at Last years Totally Transport on a mechanism using Halling units and along DS10 type motor so the shafts reached the Halling drive shafts but this meant that some cutting away of the centre bulkheads was needed to clear the motor. Well having collected the shell from Mark yesterday to do 304 as it is now the penny dropped that a Mabuchi would fit on the centre platform with only the bottom of the steps to the saloons needing cutting to clear the silicone drive tubes. It was an easy change to the mechanism and it performs well even on 6 inch curves on the test track. After having had to get some paint off a FUD Glasgow Coronation due to incomplete cleaning and having used the Nail Polish Remover I decided to risk It for the cleaning and degreasing of the Spiv. I dunked it for a while turning over a couple of times scrubbed it with soap and a an old toothbrush and repeated it again for good measure. There seemed no ill effects and when dry all seemed well except that the clear FD had gone white showing the detail nicely. I have now sprayed it grey primer and rubbing that down will tell me if degreasing was successful tomorrow but it seemed fine.
