Well the last couple of days have been...eeerrrhhh.... - TopicsExpress

Well the last couple of days have been...eeerrrhhh.... troublesome. I woke up Friday morning around 3.30 a.m. with a cluster headache. For those who have never experienced a cluster headache count yourselves lucky. There is a reason its also called the suicide headache. I took some tramadol and went back to bed and slept until 7.am. It was still ther when I woke up, so more tramadol. I can safely say that i felt totally rotten, Nauseous and Dizzy. Only managed a banana for breakfast with the Capecitabine (from now on I shall abbreviate to Cape which is the slang used at the Oncology day unit). I had to distract myself as it was impossible to sit on a chair without either wanting to trow up (NOT allowed) or falling of. Lying down was even worse - bed spinning and potentially needing a bucket. So I swapped plans and started sorting though the wardrobe - which i had planned for the weekend anyway. The nausea and dizzyness fortunately lifted around 4 p.m. and I was suddenly very hungry and had a large meal for dinner. But nope - it wasnt over yet.....Saturday morning I had a nasty taste and smell in mouth and nose. I feared the infection after the teeth debacle had flaired up again. But not wanting to be beaten I went to the Gym and did a better workout than I thought I was capable of. Home for a large brunch, and then went into town to see Aleksandra Grębowska. Fell asleep whilst she did a facial /peeling, and she let me sleep for 1 hour. Then grocery shopping, and the smell/taste still lingered no matter how much I garggled water and mouthwash. About 5.30 p.m. I decided go to A&E - no point in suffering with an infection which could potentially lead to me having to be admitted again (for catch up, see report on events before Xmas), and with the Cape, one really has to be vigilant regarding infections. I couldnt wait in the normal A&E waiting area because of Cape and the risk of potential infection from some of the the other patients there, so was asked to wait - all by myself - in the bone fracture waiting area. By 6.30 p.m. I was on IV antibiotics, Blood tests had been taken for analysis, blood pressure (slightly elevated) and pulse (normal), temperature (slightly elevated about 0.5 degree). They kindly gave me a banana to have with next lot of Cape too :-). We had to wait for the result of the blood tests to come back approx 2 hours later before deciding what to do next. The good news is that my blood results came back normal, and the infection did not show up in the bloods. Blood count was normal too. Another blood pressure showed it had dropped to normal, as had the temperature. So after liaising with the Oncology department I was sent home 9 p.m. with 2 lots of antibiotics to be taken 3 times a day for 7 days. I was extremely hungry so decided to go all way out (afterall it was Saturday so my normal treat day for being a good girl and keeping the strict alkanie diet all the other days of the week) so himself made me 4 slices of cheese on toast. YUMMY - but considering I was supposed to have gone to an 80ties disco party Saturday evening, (cancelled because my friends had flu....) well, enough said! So this means that I will be working all day today to catch up on Fridays lot. I suspect I shall cope and achieve what I need :-) Happy Sunday everyone. Love V xxx
