Well the postie scooter GP has been run and won. The Auldana - TopicsExpress

Well the postie scooter GP has been run and won. The Auldana Foundation/Japanese Motorcycle racing scooter was in fine form. Cessnock was pouring on the welcome and the heat being extremely hot, but we managed to get through. after having the bike dynod on the official dyno and being told the engine rattle indicates the engine is shit and about to blow, then they heard the other bike which sounded the same. Only to find out a slight cam chain tension adjustment sought it out all good. Bikes held in a motorcycle store to stop people making changes. A lot of other things in between. I have never ridden in such conditions, breaking up bitumen which was more like oiled pebbles and caused many slide and crashes (nicknamed crash corners), speed humps (sharp suspension busting ones) sign poles spoon drains, concrete curbing as chicanes, deep camber curves, pot holes and plastic interlock road side barriers as track barriers with nothing in front. I will NEVER forget the sound of the noise of a sliding bike them BANG! straight into the barriers. In some cases the barriers moved and had to be pushed back. Our parade lap nearly ended up with 40 scooters smacking into the back of the pace car which stopped, not to bottom out running down the gutters (LOL serious its what happened) and some guy (not saying who) saying speed up you fu^&ing dick head!!! to the pace car drivers. My team mate Alessandro had a massive off in qualifying which caused some bent bars and twisted front end. I got on traveled 2 meters, got off twisted the front end somewhere near back into shape and qualified for the next heat. Next heat (heat being the operative word) was even more difficult with the track breaking up. Then we were grid up ready for the qualifying race form the final GP. We were there, then all of a sudden (NOT AGAIN) some dude thought he could out break me and crashed in the pit straight corner. I tried to go around him but I low side crashed, nearly took him out. It was a fun crash, picked up the scooter and continued. But,,, that stack put us 3 positions behind. This,,, bumped us out of the final race. All in all a great weekend with my girlfriend Heidi, Alessandro and his family. I met and had a good chat with Kevin Curtain after sharing his sun shade, talked about Phil Lovitts square wheeled scooter I was following. Many thanks to Nick for his team management, Alessandro and his family for so many laughs and my darling Heidi who was cheering from the corporate box. I look forward to riding this high horsepower beast again!!!
