Well, we are closing in fast on the Primary race! 19 days and counting! I want to thank all of you who have met me with words of encouragement! Whether you are in my particular district or not it is great to have your support! It is encouraging to know how many of you out there want the same things for our community and are ready to see a change at the City Council level. Im in this race because I feel the current incumbent Ms. LaBass has lost sight of the purpose she was elected ; to serve the constituents of the 5th District. This district has become stale and needs a fresh perspective. An individual who will be prepared to discuss issues always and not just in the few months before a re-election. It is always interesting to see politicians jockeying for position. As I stated in the beginning, I prefer to consider myself an invested, interested community citizen rather than use the title of politician. You wont see signs all over town with my name on them. I can guarantee you, however, that if I had chosen to do that there would be signs in every area of this community, not just in a single location because of the relationships and lasting friendships I have made over these many years. There are people who have known me in this community for 46 years and there are people Ive met just today! Ive belonged to numerous civic and social organizations, volunteered my time on issues Im passionate about or that someone I love dearly is passionate about, all in the interest of making my community a better place to live, work and play. Ive had challenging times in my life here and Ive had some fantastic times. I want this community to continue to thrive. We are so far behind the times and that has come at a high price; lost productivity, reduced wages, fewer job opportunities, blighted areas of town, ill maintained infrastructure, limited leisure opportunities etc.. I come with renewed interest and enthusiasm for what this community can become. Please consider a change in the 5th District. Ask around about the accomplishments of those running in this particular race. If you know me, I would ask for your vote on February 4. I would ask that you share what you know about me with those that dont and ask them to support me. If you have a question to pose, feel free to contact me and make your own decision. I was unable to make the Tea Party forum due to family obligations, however you have a chance prior to the election to view the 5th District candidates at Missouri Western State University on January 30th at 7 p.m. in the Kemper Auditorium.
