Were back with mostly good things to report! The lakes were all - TopicsExpress

Were back with mostly good things to report! The lakes were all making lots of noise tonight and hopefully putting down some more ice! temps in the car read 24-26 degrees. Remember to check the ice yourself before venturing out and to use these for reference only. We did find some soft spots and some sketchy ice. Any snow could hide these areas!! Be safe out. Read below for more information... Hills Creek State Park- started at stumps end at the beaver huts launch. worked out quite a ways drilling 6 holes at 8.5-9. Drove over to the pines launch and drilled another 6 holes finding 7-8 between the dock and the beach Hamilton Lake- unsafe at dock. very thin ice and small patches of open water from the creek. Went to the upper parking lot. Walked down the hill and right onto the lake. Edges white, but solid. Drilled 6 holes out to 1/3 away across finding 7-8 Beechwood-went to the launch and found one soft spot right in front with just 3. Other than that, edges are solid. Worked my way out, drilling 4 holes measuring 7-8 Headed over to the Corps Lakes. It looks like the change in water level over the last week has put lots of cracks in the ice and broke off some big chunks on shore. Cowanesque- Stopped at west launch at South Shore. Drilled 6 holes out about 30 feet from the launch finding 6-7 Hammond-Started at campground launch. moved around drilling 6 holes at 6-6.5. We then went to Pine Camp and there is a massive crack running across the lake at the bottleneck from Pine Camp to the other shore. It looks like the main sheet broke in half bringing water up through. I went towards a little farther towards the dam and moved around finding 5.5-7 of ice in 6 holes Nessmuk-aborted checking the ice. Mud around the lake was frozen, but not completely solid at the boat launch. I made it to the ice, but found only skim ice and did not see an easy way onto the main sheet of ice. It looks like the water level rose, then refroze. Being it was late, I avoided the risk and did not check anywhere else. This should be fishable again after a few days of good cold weather though.
