Weve been here for months, teaching, learning, laughing and crying. We got past the labour dispute only to find that inside many classrooms its even more difficult. Now for the next hurdle - school trustee elections. Here are the questions I ask myself. Who is responsible for the mess that public education is in right now? Can we truly lay the blame on government only? Why are so many trustees seemingly unaware of BC Blueprint and other plans that may be afoot to privatize public education? If incumbent trustees didnt have the wherewithal to find out and speak out about what is going on and were content to be fed information from folks who may be on board with the govt agenda, why would we choose to re-elect these trustees, nice as they might be? This might sound harsh but honestly, I am tired of hearing excuses like, We didnt know. ALL of the players are responsible, including trustees who hold our sacred trust. So, for the Patti Bacchuses of BC, good on you. You at least tried. For the rest, thank you for your service. My 2 cents worth...
