What a day!! I am fine now BUT this morning had an accident at home~ I brushed against an open tool box in my dining room that had a sharp edge - sharp enough to shear my lower right calf open and causing an immediate hemmorhage alll over. I didnt know I was cut the first 15-20 seconds and had walked into my living room. as I reached down to feel where I thought I scratched my calf I saw the trail of blood and rushed back to the bathroom to find something to stop the bleeding. I couldnt stop it. in seconds, standing in a pool of my own blood I called James and Kyle for help. I had blood all over the place!! It still kept pouring out. James wanted to call an ambulance. I said there was no time and needed a new towel from the kitchen and something to tie around it. What a mess~!!! I got the bleeding under control and had James take me to the nearest hospital where they had to weave the stitching to push all the broken veins together, each too small to repair but collectively making me a bleeder.Where normal stitches just go in and out and get tied off, these had to be cross stitched and pulled tighter and had at least 4-6 pierces per stitch and about 20-22 woven stitches in all. i asked the doctor if I will be able to remove them myself in 2 wks but he said NO that they have to be removed a special way to ensure no pieces get left behind.I also have a new antibiotic to take and have to be careful it doesnt infect worse as cellulitis is bad enough on its own but with a large incision, the wound becomes a target. The edge of the plastic tool box had made a straight gouge out only about an 1/8 of an inch wide and about 2 1/2-3 inches long but having varicose veins and early stages of cellulitis for which I just began antibiotic therapy yesterday, my legs have already been swollen due to my CHF so this injury was a significant risk. The boys estimated a 2 pint blood loss, but I think it was only 1/2 - 1 pint. Kyle did a great job cleaning up the blood but my rugs may never be the same as some staining didnt come out. I want to try my steam cleaner on it but need to research to find if that would make it permanent or help lift it. So far we used Lysol cleaner [ lemon colored one that usually works for almost any surface] If anyone knows a good way to get blood out of a rug, please let me know :) Meanwhile everything else is back to normal :) Funny what a difference a day makes or can make~!!
