What a gift and a privilege it is to teach high school art in VA Beach City Public Schools!...I recently received these two texted emails (excerpts included here) from a former student of mine, Will Quinn, who graduated in 2004 and attended VCU, graduating in 2008 (I dont think hed mind my sharing): This is your old student Will Quinn. I just wanted to send you an email saying how much i appreciate everything you taught me and how you supported me as a high school student. Im sending you and email in my office in downtown Shanghai. I am now an independent fashion designer here for 5 years almost. I had my own show at Shanghai Fashion Week last October. And this September and October I am having fashion showrooms in Shanghai and Paris and a show in Beijing. Again i just wanted to tell you Im doing well and see how you were. From WIll Hey mrs.dijulio sorry I havent replied so fast Ive been very busy. I just finished my shanghai showroom tonight and am at my office talking to buyers...I attached my look book for next season. This collection went really well. And is going all over Chinese media and will be selling in over 10 shops in china and a number of online retailers. As well as h.lorenzo the multibrand in Los Angeles! So excited for that! ...Maybe next time Im home we could have lunch. He used to paint designs on T-shirts under the label Ha. Look at him now: a successful Shanghai-based fashion designer with his own Ratpack label whose work is sophisticated, distinctive and hot with a touch of his appealingly quirky outlook and even humor.
