What belief is and its relation toward motivation to learn. Belief is separated with any concrete things in this real world. In my opinion, belief is something abstract but real and it is similar with religion. As a living human, we have rights to choose what religion to be our own belief fundamentally, but as we know that not all living human choose to have a religion. My religion is Islam. Islam teaches me that there will be another life after we died. My “next life” will be the reflection of I have done when I am living. Belief has a very big influence toward my motivation to learn, but too simple if we talk about belief just influences our motivation in a boundary of “learning” because it takes a part in every single thing I do and in every single decision that I make. If I could relate it with Indonesia, Indonesia has Pancasila as a basic fundamentally source to decide anything (policy, etc.) to all of Indonesian people and it is similar with me that I should involve my belief as a source to make all of my decisions. In the other hand, belief is not just a source, it could be a boundary for me for what I can do and what I cannot do. Actually belief is not the only one that influences our motivation to learn because our motivation to learn can be influenced by many things, such as things which are worldly. But we are still able to say that belief is the most influenced things towards our motivation to learn. If we talk about the differences in the ways learners with entity views or intelligence and those with incremental views of intelligence in responding the difficult task and possibility of failure means we focus on their learning behavior for each category when they are learning. Still there will be possibility of failure for them but the way they learn is something different one another. If I distinguish between entity and incremental, this could be the differences between “smart” and “diligent”. Smart students are very easy to understand what they learn, they can easily solve any problem when they get difficult task. We might say that smart students still have to think hard to solve the difficult task, but the way they do it looks like they do it easily and clearly. Different from diligent students, they need to have extra time to understand and they need work hard to finish a difficult task. In my opinion, self-efficacy is like there is someone who believes and with his/her owns self toward certain things to get certain goal, and it is similar with self-confidence. It can be influenced by many factors, such as praises and critics. Through praises and critics as factors which influence, someone can increase their self-efficacy and those can be related with attribution theory, because having praises and critics from other people, we can maximize our achievement. cc: Imam Malik
