What does the bible teach us about teaching? In the NT, 1321(strongs) /didáskō (teach) nearly always refers to teaching the Scriptures (the written Word of God). The key role of teaching Scripture is shown by its great frequency in the NT, and the variety of word-forms (cognates). [This includes three noun-forms, two adjectival forms, and one verb, totaling about 220 occurrences in the NT).] Biblehub/greek Jesus taught the disciples all the time, in many ways. A disciple is someone who: 1. accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another: 2. convinced adherent of a school or individual [merriam-webster/dictionary] An adherent of a school. Now lets look at these two words adherent and school. Synonyms for adherent is : Enthusiast(person active in interest) but also member, devotee, and believer will do, as well as the more modern description fan. A fan. A believer. A devotee. An enthusiast. A disciple. Now, Jesus said that we were supposed to go make disciples(thats not an option, its a command) and if making disciples is all about teaching the word of God, and how to live life, in so many compelling ways, how on earth can we reach that goal if so few actually teach in the body of Christ? Now the word school: We all know what a school is, right? From when we were kids. A school is defined as 1: an organization that provides instruction: as a : an institution for the teaching of children b : college, university A school is something that is organized. Something that is objective. Something that is substantial and principal. To share a word from time to time is good and beneficial and builds up too, but to teach, which is a command and one of the fivefold ministries whos job it is to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph 4:12–13) is something completely different than just sharing a personal enlightenment from time to time. There are many that like to be pastors and have the office leader of a congregation, and many like to preach, to be seen and heard a lot; but i see very few that like to teach and do the tedious the work that it takes, in private. And that is a catastrofy. Because without teaching the individual dosent grow. Dosent know. Dosent change. Dosent ever become a disciple. And what Jesus said we should do, we do not do.
