Joint Base Lewis McChord, along with representatives from the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard paid tribute to over 1,000 Vietnam Veterans from all military branches on 9 October at the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Vietnam War. The ceremony was the chance to give our Vietnam Veterans the Welcome Home they deserved from nearly 50 years ago. As one Marine Veteran shared, This has been the best day of my life since I returned home in 1971, thank you for recognizing our courage and sacrifice from so many years ago. Along with the ceremony, this gave the Navy Gold Star program the opportunity meet with Gold Star Mothers, Spouses and family members along with partnering with the Army Survivor Outreach Services.
