What music were you listening to when you were 18 - 25 years old? What music will you want to listen to when you are 80? Come to Alive Inside film screening on Weds Nov 19th in Nyack and explore how the music of your youth can have a profound impact on your senior years. The film is presented by Rivertown Films and Music For Life Creative Arts Therapy PLLC. For tix and info: rivertownfilm.org/films/alive-inside/ In high school I had this amazing group of friends that listened to and played...or tried to play jazz. Our amazing music teacher, Randy Wanless, along with each of us and our own collections, shared gems such as this one from perhaps the best jazz group of all time. The music spoke to us and mirrored the excitement, idealism and curiosity that we were experiencing as boys becoming young men. I can see and feel those times vividly from many years ago when I hear this cut. It brings back the joy and sadness but its real and resonates with every part of me. Its part of me physically and emotionally. For a few minutes during and after I listen I am transformed. As the film says, music does things that pills (pharmaceuticals) cant.
