What´s up in Kronberg? The great violinist Gidon Kremer is staying in our city for a few days to lead a project that is entitled Dialogues. This internal project which started on Saturday, involves several of our Young Soloists with the aim to study certain works of a great composer with Polish origins and who settled after many years of hardship in Russia. He spent the last 50 years of his life in Moscow. He was associated with Dimitri Shostakovich with whom he had many fruitful conversations and dialogues. His name is Mieczyslaw Weinberg (1919-196). In 2010 British musicologist David Fanning published a biography covering the broad spectrum of his huge output. Mr.Fanning and his wife Michelle have been participants in a discussion panel this afternoon where they both presented deep insights into his personal and musical life. Gidon Kremer shared this session with lots of interesting thoughts about his personal re-discovery of a composer who ist still under-valued in the Eastern and Western world. A great session for our Young Soloists who followed the lively panel discussions with great interest. Tuesday evening works by Weinberg will be performed with Gidon Kremer and Young Soloists in an internal workshop concert. Rehearsals take place until Monday. Rolling up sleeves is the theme for the next 3 days. b1 is currently being conducted
