What’s Growing in our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden? Many delights were made in our wonderful kitchen this week with Mrs McFaul; Pumpkin scones, baked potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower soup and spicy pumpkin chutney. Very tasty! Our illustrious garden leader was sick this week but 3F was inspired by their session last fortnight, building teepees, to create poems packed with descriptive words. Twisting and turning pulling out the damp old leaves in the nice warm sun, Putting the old leaves in the smelly old compost bin, Making a big bamboo tee-pee out of wool, Gross black soil on the ground, Chirping crows, Hearing the noise around me makes me so frustrated, The breeze on my body makes me shiver, I just love the way the day goes on in the pretty garden, Whenever I look up I see a golden light, it’s the sun And the nice shady blue sky. By Patrick 3F The bright shining garden, Damp soil sizzling in the sun, Powerful strong green weeds, Hard, grey cube pavings. Twisting, sparkling wool through bamboo to make a teepee tent, Long green stalks. Crows squawking in the trees beyond. Children giggling. Back to our nourishing lunch in our mild classroom. Playtime comes, we go outside. Yelling, screaming, shouting. The noise. The bell struck it’s big loud bang over the speakers. We lined up outside our classroom, We came in like a herd of elephants, stamping our feet. By Chloe 3F Colourful wool glitters in the sun, Crows squawk in the trees, Small little metal spades scraping, The wet damp soggy soil, Twisting and tugging, Old dry brown weeds Yellow crispy dirt, Crunching under your feet. By Heath C. 3F Nice damp dirt, Twisting and turning weeds as I pulled, Scraping dirt off the heavy pavers, All the colourful silky leaves I felt, All the colourful fruits and vegetables, Creative tee-pee, made out of bamboo and string. By Mia M. 3F Damp soft dirt, Bricks placed on the ground, Strong hard bamboo placed carefully on the dirt, A massive sun walking across the foggy watery clouds, The crows sweeping across the school, Small bugs tip-toeing on the paths.
