When Catherine Tyldesley discovered Michelle Collins was leaving Coronation Street, she feared she would get the axe. The actress, who plays Michelle’s screen daughter Eva Price, was concerned bosses wouldn’t want her to stay following Michelle’s exit as Stella and Sue Johnston leaving her role as Eva’s gran Gloria. Thankfully she was reassured by boss Stuart Blackburn that she has a bright future on the cobbles. Catherine told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’m really sad they’re all leaving. I’m very close to Michelle and Sue, I’m going to miss them a hell of a lot. I did have a mini panic they were going to get rid of me too but I’ve been reassured several times that my character is going nowhere, which is great to hear. I’m contracted until May and beyond by the looks of things. I’m really happy and they keep giving me good storylines.” Corrie fans will soon see Eva embark on a new romance with local builder Jason Grimshaw and Catherine reckons they are a good match. She added: “I’m hoping they are going to give me and Ryan some good stuff. I want a mixture of dramatic and romantic. I know it’s a bit greedy but I love the ups and downs, that’s what Corrie does best.”
