When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:18-19 KJV ---- 10. He that chastises the nations will He not correct – He that teaches man knowledge? 11. The LORD* knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. (1 Cor. 3:20) 12. Blessed is the man whom You chasten, LORD*, and teach him from Your Torah (Teaching), 13. so You can give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked. 14. For the LORD* will not cast off His people, neither will He forsake His inheritance. 15. But judgment will return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. 16. Who will rise up for me against the evil doers?1 Who will stand up for me against the workers of wickedness? 17. Unless the LORD* had been my help, my inner being had almost dwelled in the silence of death. 18. When I said, My foot is slipping, Your loving kindness, LORD*, held me up. 19. In the multitude of my thoughts within me Your comforts delight my very being. 20. Will the throne of destruction have fellowship with You, which frames suffering by an ordinance?2 21. They gather themselves together against the lives of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood. 22. But the LORD* is my defense and my God is the Rock of my Refuge. 23. And He will bring upon them their own iniquity and will cut them off in their own wickedness. The LORD* our God will cut them off! --- NOTES: 1 (94:16) The evil doers are those who thrive under anarchy. See Ra under Shalom in Glossary. 2 (94:20) The throne of destruction is a corrupt court system, putting their unjust decisions in legal terms to legitimize their corruption.
