When I think back to the cartoons I watched as a kid, I realized now how much they formed my view of the world. Always wanted to be Bugs Bunny, not Daffy Duck, good was so good and bad was hilarious. Much is made of the violence, but kids arent stupid they knew it was a cartoon. What was most important was that the traits and values that a kid could identify with always came out in the end. Masculine and Feminine traits were not always clear, and no one questioned the relationship of Chip and Dale. I doubt the kids of this age will be traumatized by a Gay viking.
